Why My Sister Needs to Follow a Renal Diet

We have been advised by my sister’s doctors that she really needs the best care possible. Her kidney is not doing very well and it is advisable that she should always diligently follow the renal diet that was specifically given to her. Her potassium levels are very high and she was advised to avoid foods like oranges and bananas. Kiwis, prunes, raisins and cantaloupes are also discouraged. Among the vegetables that she should consume, it was mentioned that she should choose celery, cabbage and green beans among others while spinach, tomatoes, asparagus, squash and avocados are best to stay away from. I know it really gets complicated because there is a long list of prohibited fruits and vegetables and that is why the services of a renal dietician is especially useful in this type of situation. I just hope my sister will be comfortable with this kind of diet and will follow everything that has been advised to her.
